BCC for developing effective models to combat Non Communicable diseases and accidents
- KAP study at baseline to establish baseline on dietary patterns, exercise patterns, health beliefs.
- Develop population wide approaches for smoking cessation
- Engage appropriate Government Departments on
- Policy on taxes on tobacco and related products
- Smoking bans in public places
- Bans on advertising tobacco products
- Determine adult smoking prevalence
- Promote addressing CVD as public health priority through advocacy and awareness building
- Modify behaviour relating to diet and exercise
- Development of school / workplace programs to learn to live healthy
- Develop a road safety policy based on the Haddon’s Matrix
- Service Providers : For patient friendly behaviour, client – centred services and treatment of patients with dignity and respect
- Community: On influencing the health seeking behaviour of potential beneficiaries and orient them towards seeking safe and rational health care. There will be a focus towards making the community aware about the available health services (e.g.. CEmONC)
- Specific Issues : The BCC activities will be focused to create awareness in the community on specific diseases like malaria, TB, Diarhoea, Non Communicable diseases like CHD, DM , Cancer etc. Women and Children will be specifically targeted.
- Sensitising providers for friendly behaviour with patients
- Promoting provider behaviour for rational drug use and adequate prescriptions
- Facilitating community to demand services by service providers
- Improving awareness about the health services
- Promoting correct perception about the gravity of different types of sickness
- Reducing the perceived quality gap though better communication
- Promoting cleanliness, proper waste disposal, and prevention of diseases
