TAMIL NADU HEALTH SYSTEMS PROJECT (TNHSP) is an Externally Aided Project with assistance from World Bank

• First of the second generation Health Systems project

• Interventions planned for the entire state of Tamil Nadu

• Improvement of hospitals planned for
  

  • 29 District head quarters hospitals

  • 241 sub District hospitals

• Duration of the project : 05 years from Jan 2005 – Sep 2010

• Total Cost of the Project : Rs. 597.15 Crores

Project Objectives:

To significantly improve the effectiveness of the public and private health care system in Tamil Nadu through

• Improved service delivery particularly for the poor, disadvantaged and tribal groups

• Development of effective protocols to address key health challenges including Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) & Road Traffic Accidents (RTA)

• Improved oversight and system management

• Public Sector service efficiency measures
